Visit Kashan
Kashan:
Is a city in Isfahan Province. At the 2006 census, its population was 248,789. Kashan with 247Km distance from Tehran, is the first of the large oases along the Qom-Kerman road which runs along the edge of the central deserts of Iran. Discoveries in the Sialk Hillocks reveal that this region was one of the primary centers of civilization in pre-historic ages. The etymology of its name comes from the Kasian, the original inhabitants of the city; later this was changed to “Kashian”.
During the Seljuk period (AD 1051–1220) the town became famous for its textiles, pottery and tiles and the word for a tile (kashi) comes from the name of the town. Today Kashan is a major centre for the production of textiles, rugs and rose water, and a great place to stock up on qualified souvenirs. The most popular time of the year to visit is April, when the fields of rose bushes outside town are in full and fragrant bloom.
